Dick Corp Selected by the Ohio Schools Facilities Commission to Provide Construction Management Services

Dick Corporation has been selected by the Ohio Schools Facilities Commission to provide construction management services for the Edgerton Local Schools in northwest Ohio. This $15 million project will include a new middle school and elementary school for the District. Dick Corporation is excited to be a part of the OSFC program at this time as the Commission embarks on a plan to spend $4.1 billion in tobacco settlement money over the next several years on school construction in Ohio. Becoming a part of this program is the culmination of six years of hard work and collaboration by Dick Corp staff in Ohio and Pennsylvania in both the CM and Building Divisions. We anticipate that our successful execution of this project will lead to many more CM opportunities for educational facilitates throughout Ohio.

Dick Corp. Selected by Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for Two New Projects

Dick Corporation has been selected by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Engineering District 11-0, to provide Construction Inspection and Documentation Services on two projects in Allegheny County.

SR 4052 Section A07, Warrendale Bayne Road. This project includes roadway widening and the addition of turning lanes along with traffic signal upgrades at the Brush Creek Road, Wheatland Road, SR 79 NB off ramp and SR 19 intersections. Estimated construction costs for this project is $4.5 Million. A Notice to Proceed in the spring of 2008 is anticipated with work to be completed during the 2008 construction season.

SR 3069 Sections A16 & A17, Liberty Tunnel Rehabilitation Phases 1 & 2, City of Pittsburgh. Work to be performed on this project includes conduit replacement, concrete ceiling repairs, electrical upgrades along with structural repairs to the exhaust shaft. Estimated construction costs for this project is $16.5 Million. A Notice to Proceed in the spring of 2008 is anticipated with work to be completed during the fall of 2009.

Dick Corp. Selected to Provide Commissioning Agent Services to the Pennsylvania DGS

Dick Corporation has been selected to provide Commissioning Agent Services by the Pennsylvania Department of General Services on four new two story housing unit additions at four State Correctional Facilities located throughout the state. The projects are known as SCI Muncy, SCI Laurel Highlands, SCI Mercer and SCI Smithfield.

Construction costs are estimated to be approximately $40M for these four new additions. Pre-construction phase activities have begun, with construction activities slated to begin in 2008.

Dick Corporation’s role is to develop and produce contract bid specifications and training schedules for commissioning these four new additions. Once construction begins, Dick Corporation will provide on site Commissioning Agent Services from inception through close out of each project.

Dick Corporation Awarded Two New Contracts in Ohio

Dick Corporations' Ohio Regional Office was just selected to provide Construction Management and Inspection Services to the Stark County’s Engineer’s Office for a Bridge Replacement project. The Tremont Viaduct Replacement is a 15 month project scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2009 and has a construction value of approximately $4 Million. The Bridge is a main artery for the City of Massillon and has been closed for three years. ODOT began work on this structure in 2003, however due to environmental issues, abandoned the project. Now the Stark County Engineer along with the aide of Dick Corporation’s CM preconstruction staff, has made it possible for this project to resume. This 700 foot bridge spans two Railroads, a river, and historic park trail.

Dick Corporation has also been selected to provide Construction Management Services for the Ohio Turnpike Commission's Reconstruction of the Indian Meadow and Tiffin River Service Plazas in Williams County, Ohio, near the Indiana state line. We are currently performing Preconstruction Services on this $30 Million project that will begin construction in November 2008. This project was awarded to Dick Corporation based upon the Commission's satisfaction with our performance on the previous two service plaza reconstruction projects. The project involves the construction of two new buildings, truck parking, fuel vendors and related roadway work.

Dick Corporation Hires Senior Vice President of Strategic Services

Dick Corporation is pleased to announce that Andy Pajak has joined the organization as Senior Vice President of Strategic Services. His responsibilities will include further expanding and directing the company’s growing Strategic Services Group, enhancing its design-build and construction position in the Department of Defense market, expanding its construction and program management services business and strengthening the project delivery capabilities to address clients’ needs throughout a project’s life cycle.

Mr. Pajak is a Professional Engineer with a bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University and a master’s from Cornell University. Prior to joining Dick Corporation, he spent 16 years with the Michael Baker Corporation in Pittsburgh as President of the Baker Environmental business unit and Corporate Executive Vice President responsible for Program Management. Mr. Pajak was also President and CEO of GZA Geoenvironmental Technologies, Inc., a publicly traded engineering, consulting, and remediation firm and was a Senior Vice President at CDM Constructors Inc.

Zoratto, P.E. has joined the company as Executive Vice President and Chief Strategic Officer, responsible for Corporate Strategy, Business Development and Strategic Services. With over 27 years of experience in Engineering and Construction, Mr. Zoratto has built and led successful businesses of significant size and scale. His extensive private and federal government sector knowledge in both national and international settings is anticipated to help revitalize the company.

Upon receiving his Civil Engineering degree from the University of Toronto, Mr. Zoratto began his career as a project engineer on a large hydroelectric project in the Canadian Arctic with US-based Peter Kiewit and Sons. He relocated to the United States in 1981 and joined D’Appolonia Consulting Engineers in Pittsburgh, PA, where he served as a project manager on design-build projects throughout the country.

In 1983, Mr. Zoratto joined The IT Group (later acquired by The Shaw Group), where over the next 20 years, he was instrumental in building the company into one of the industry’s leading global infrastructure and environmental companies with annual revenues exceeding $1.4 billion. While at IT, he served as President of Government Services and built the company’s largest business segment, employing over 5000 people on over 90 major programs worldwide, serving clients in Military and Civil Construction, Facilities Management and Privatization, and Environmental Management. Under his leadership, this business achieved revenues of $800 million annually with a contract backlog in excess of $4.0 billion, making IT the nation’s 25th largest defense contractor.

In 2003, Mr. Zoratto joined GENCO Supply Chain Management as President of GENCO Infrastructure Solutions and established this business as a critical provider of services to the Federal Government in the areas of Performance-Based Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Asset Management and Facility Management. And most recently, he served as Chief Strategic Officer for DynCorp International, a $2 billion contingency support and services company, supporting DOD and US State Department operations worldwide.

Dick Construction Company Receives Contract for Construction Services for the 49 Condominium Unit Lodge at the Club at Spanish Peaks in Big Sky Montana

Dick Construction Company, parent company to Dick Corporation, has been awarded a contract to construct a $125 million project in Big Sky, Montana. The 270,000 square foot lodge is the centerpiece of The Club at Spanish Peaks, a new 3,500 acre private club community which includes a Tom Weiskopf Signature golf course and private ski lift access to the Big Sky Ski and Summer Resort. Dick Corporation and Hunt Development Corporation Awarded $50 Million Enhanced Use Lease Contract - Fort Detrick, Frederick, Maryland

A joint venture between Dick Corporation and Hunt Development Group announced the team known as Detrick Properties, LLC has been awarded a $50 million contract by the U.S. Army. The award of the Enhanced Use Leasing (EUL) contract is for the transformation of 24 acres of the Bio-Defense Campus into a thriving new hotel / conference facility and administrative office complex and a retail center.

The project involves the ground lease of approximately 24 acres of land at Fort Detrick. The proposed development includes a diverse mix of Class A office, technology and research space, retail, and hotel/conference space. Additional features include a significant amount of green space in a park-like campus setting with water features, well-lit parking, and pedestrian pathways for interconnectivity between on- and off-post facilities.

Dick Corporation Awarded $100 Million Contract for the Grand at Diamond Beach Condominium Complex in New Jersey

Dick Corporation has been selected to provide construction services for The Grand at Diamond Beach condominium complex, located in Diamond Beach, New Jersey, just south of Wildwood in Cape May. This unique twelve story building will contain 125 upscale condominium units along with associated amenities and recreation areas. Dick Corporation broke ground on this $100 million dollar project in March, 2007 with substantial completion to be achieved in the Fall of 2008. Baumgardner Construction will assist Dick Corporation on this project. Dick and Baumgardner have worked together in the past on a number of projects in this area.

Dick Corporation and Hunt Development Corporation Awarded A $250 Million 50 Year Enahnce Use Lease Contract

A joint venture between Dick Corporation and Hunt Development Group announced today the team known as Eglin Properties, LLC has been awarded a $250 million contract by the Department of Air Force. The award of the Enhanced Use Leasing (EUL) contract is for the design, development, financing, and construction of the Emerald Coast Technology and Research Center at the Eglin Air Force Base.

The project involves the ground lease of approximately 98 acres of land adjacent to the Eglin West Main Gate. Anchored by the University of Florida’s Research Education & Engineering Facility (REEF), the proposed development will include approximately 1.1 million square feet of class A office, technology, and research space supported by an education cluster of undergraduate and graduate level research and training complimented by student housing and a variety of amenities including a conference center with nightly stay hotel facility, a health wellness center, and extended stay hotel facility, mid scale restaurant, child development center, and allocated space for an Okaloosa County EDC incubator project.

Dick Corporation and Hunt Development Group are supported by the Landings Real Estate Group providing development and management services and the design team of Greenhorne & O’Mara, and Bullock Tice Associates. Both Dick and Hunt as well as the entire team, have extensive privatization and military construction experience for the Air Force and in the northwest Florida region. Greenhorne & O’Mara and Bullock Tice are currently under contract to design the expansion of the REEF building.

Dick Corp Selected to Provide CM Services to the Columbus Regional Airport Authority

Dick Corporation's Ohio Regional Office was one of two companies selected to provide Construction Management Services to the Columbus Regional Airport Authority. The Authority has an aggressive capital improvement plan that includes improvements to Port Columbus Airport, Rickenbacker Airport, and Bolton Airport. This plan currently has funding for over $900 Million in construction improvements over the next ten years. Over $400 Million is scheduled to be completed in the next five years and includes airside and landside, horizontal and vertical projects. The authority has an immediate need for preconstruction services including estimating, scheduling, constructability reviews, and architectural services. Dick Corporation has subcontracted with H.K.I. and Prime Engineering & Architecture to provide any architectural services required. Construction phase services are expected to begin late this year.


As a result of this contract, the Ohio Regional team has established a local office in downtown Columbus Ohio. Local presence is an important component of professional service selection criteria. This new geographical presence should position Dick Corporation for growth in the central Ohio area.

Dick Pacific Awarded $39.2 Million Contract by State of Hawaii DOT

Dick Corporation's subsidiary Dick Pacific has been awarded a $39.2 million contract by the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation, Airports Division. The award of the design-build contract is for the construction of a third parking garage on the current 250-stall, open-air parking lot between the Inter-Island Terminal Garage and the Overseas Parking Garage. A two-lane vehicle and pedestrian bridge will connect to the Inter-Island Terminal Garage at the upper level of the new eight-level, pre-cast concrete HNL Parking Structure. The garage will add 1,800 parking stalls to the current 4,500 parking stalls at the Honolulu International Airport.

“We are excited to have been selected as the design-builder working with the Airports Division on this much-needed facility,” said Gerry Majkut, Dick Pacific’s senior vice president and general manager.

Dick Pacific teamed with design partners RIM Architects, a local architect, and Walker Parking Consultants, a nationally acclaimed parking consultant. The team was one of three finalists who submitted design packages for the parking structure. Design work for the new parking structure is expected to start later this month, with construction scheduled to be completed by the end of 2008.

Dick Corporation's Ohio Regional Office was selected to provide Construction Inspection Services to the Cuyahoga County Engineer's Office for a county-wide construction inspection contract (Cleveland Area). This contract is the second contract the County has awarded Dick Corporation in the past three years. Currently Dick Corporation serves the County under an "On-Call CM Services" contract providing preconstruction services such as scheduling, estimating, constructability reviews, etc. This new contract enables us to expand our on-site services to provide more project level support for the County.

Dick Pacific Awarded $318 Million Contract by Navy

Dick Pacific was awarded a $318 million contract by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Pacific, through its affiliate company, Shaw-Dick Pacific LLC. The award is for the construction of the Hawaii Regional Security Operations Center (HRSOC) at the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station in Wahiawa. This is the largest contract award for Dick Pacific.

The contract with NAVFAC is at the US Navy’s 700-acre Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Pacific in Wahiawa. The project includes a state-of-the-art, two-story Operations and Data Center Facility, as well as the construction of a Visitors Control Center, Warehouse Building, and other supporting building and infrastructure, including new access roads, parking and utilities.

“Dick Pacific is pleased to have been awarded a project of this importance and looks forward to working immediately with the Navy” said Gerry Majkut, Vice President and General Manager. Majkut expects the project to take approximately 39 months to complete, with a start date of early summer 2007 and completion date of September 2010. Over 500 workers will be needed for the project. In addition, Dick Pacific expects to employ about 40 local Hawaii contractors to support their effort.

Dick Pacific, one of the largest contractors in Hawaii since 1939, has worked with the Department of Defense on numerous landmark projects that include the Pacific Command Headquarters at Camp Smith, Mission Support Training Facility and Information Systems Facility at Schofield Barracks, and Elementary/Middle School at Andersen AFB in Guam.

Dick Corp. Selected to Provide CM Services to the Lake County Engineer's Office

Dick Corporation was selected to provide Construction Management Services to the Lake County Engineer's Office for the Doty Road Bridge project in Madison Township. This design/build project, which includes the reconstruction of the Doty Road Bridge over Mill Creek, is required as a result of the July 2006 flooding that washed out the structure. This project is funded by the Lake County Engineer's Office and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This 5 month project valued at approximately $800,000 is scheduled to be completed by August 2008.

Dick Corporation Awarded City of Canton Tuscarawas Roadway Widening Project

Dick Corporation's Ohio Regional Office was selected to provide Construction Management and Inspection Services to the City of Canton for the Tuscarawas Roadway Widening project. The $5.2 million project includes widening the existing four lanes to five lanes by adding a center turning lane. There are also numerous drainage upgrades as well as new streetscapes throughout downtown using brick deco designs. The project begins on the square in downtown Canton and ends near I-77. It impacts both municipal and county courthouses, the city jail, the city police department as well as other municipal buildings. This 18 month project is scheduled to be completed in 2008.

Dick Corporations' Ohio Regional Office was just selected to provide Construction Management and Inspection Services to the City of Brook Park for a Railroad Grade Separation project. This two year project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2008 and has a construction value of approximately $10 Million. The Railroad Grade Separation will provide relief for the highly congested area in the City of Brook Park which is located near Hopkins airport. This project includes a new bridge for the CSX Railroad as well as various roadway and signalization items.

Dick Corporation Receives Perfect Score on the Oceana Child Development Center Project

The Naval Facilities Service Center (NFESC) recently conducted a Design-Build-Commission (DBC) facility assessment to establish the starting point score for the new Child Development Center (CDC) at Naval Air Station (NAS), Oceana, Virginia Beach, VA. The CDC is a “Silver” LEED certified, 29,000 SF handicap accessible facility that supports 305 children and includes a reception area and activity rooms for infants, toddlers, and preschool children. The report provides the Condition Assessment for the facility. This CDC facility, that Dick Corp serves as the Design-Build contractor, ranked at 100 on the Overall Building Condition Index Score (the highest of all MILCON facilities surveyed to date). "Besides the two facilities in Panama City, Florida the Oceana CDC is an excellent example for the study. Tremendous attention was paid to details and the individual component scores reflect that detail,” stated Gregory Hoffman, P.E., DBC Inspection Team lead, whom conducted the survey.

“This is a great success story for Dick Corporation, as well as the Naval Facility (NAVFAC) Atlantic and Midatlantic teams and reflects highly on all individuals whom were personally involved with the project,” added Steve Emrick, Naval Facilities Engineering & Acquisition Division, Project Management & Engineering Branch Head. “It is always great when we have the opportunity to thank our contractor and NAVFAC team for their efforts via an assessment conducted by an impartial third party.”

Dick Corporation Selected to Provide Construction Inspection Services to ODOT District 8

Dick Corporation's Ohio Regional Office was selected to provide Construction Inspection Services to the Ohio Department of Transportation for a district wide construction services contract in District 8 (Cincinnati region). This is the third contract the District has awarded Dick Corp. in the past three years. Each year the scope has been modified to add additional services. The keystone project starting this month is a $150 million reconstruction of I-275 on the north side of Cincinnati. This project includes the construction of five miles of six lane highway with 20 new bridge structures as well as a new ITS system.

Dick Pacific Receives $26.4 Million Contract to Expand Strategic Airlift Ramp and C-17 Clear Water Rinse at Hickam AFB, Oahu, Hawaii

Dick Corporation announced that Dick Pacific has been awarded a contract by the Department of the Army U. S. Army Engineer District, Honolulu as the general contractor to Expand Strategic Airlift Ramp and C-17 Clear Water Rinse at Hickam Air Force Base, Oahu, Hawaii.

The scope of work for the Strategic Airlift Ramp is to expand the strategic airlift ramp (aircraft parking area) to create three new engine run-up positions and two new aircraft parking positions. The scope of work for the Clear Water Rinse Facility is to construct new clear water rinse concrete pad for C-17 aircraft.

Dick Corporation has been selected to provide Construction Management, Inspection and Testing (CEI) Services for the Allegheny County New Medical Examiner’s Office, Morgue and Forensic Laboratories project. The project involves renovation of an existing two story building in Pittsburgh, PA. Once known as the Mortuary, the current Office of the Medical Examiner has occupied the same building since 1902.

The construction costs are estimated to be approximately $20M. Construction of the multi-prime project is planned to begin in late spring 2007 and be completed in the fall of 2008. Dick Corporation's role includes construction management, inspection and testing during construction.

Dick Corporation Awarded $30 Million Contract for Cleveland Federal Building

Dick Corporation has received a $30 million contract to provide construction management services to the General Services Administration (GSA) for the modernization of the A.J. Celebrezze Federal Building in Cleveland, Ohio. This is Dick Corporation’s fourth contract with the GSA’s Chicago office.

The building, constructed in 1966, is a 32-story office tower located in downtown Cleveland. The 1.5 million square foot building is adjoined on all four sides by public plazas and is landscaped with granite pavers and planting areas.

Work on the A.J. Celebrezze Building is slated to be completed in three phases. Phase I will consist of the installation of a new fire alarm system including new devices and front-end equipment. Phase II will be a reconstruction of an “urban forest” in the exterior plaza that includes demolition, structural repair, waterproofing, fills, pavers, and extensive landscaping. The third and final phase is will be an upgrade to the building’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. Two new air handling units will be lifted by helicopter to the roof of the building, with existing air handling units and supply being updated as required for conversion. Dick Corporation Receives Contract Modification for the Construction of the Main Street Bridge

Dick Corporation has received a contract modification to provide Construction Management services to the Ohio Department of Transportation for the construction of the $45 million Main Street Bridge in Columbus, OH. Dick Corporation was previously under contract to provide Preconstruction Services for the project. When completed in 2009, the bridge will be only the fifth structure in the world, and the first in North America, to utilize an inclined arch superstructure. In addition, it will be the only one of the five to incorporate post-tensioning into the design.

Dick Corporation Awarded Redevelopment Authority of the County of Fayette Contract

Dick Corporation was selected to provide Construction Management and Inspection Services to the Redevelopment Authority of the County of Fayette, PA, (RACF). These services are for the $5.8 million “Design Build” Matthew Drive Extension Road Construction Project at the Fayette County Business Park in South Union Township. This project involves the extension of Matthew Drive from its current intersection with New Salem Road to its planned intersection with US Route 40 and Fan Hollow Road. This 4,100 LF roadway will serve as the primary route through the new business park and will also serve as an access route to the Mon-Fayette Expressway which is currently under construction by the PTC.

Dick Pacific, part of Fluor team to win a one-year, $200 million naval global contingency contract

Dick Pacific, in a teaming agreement with global engineering & construction firm Fluor Corp (FLR), was awarded a $200 million global contingency contract-multiple award contract , known as GCC-MAC, for the U. S. Navy. The contract is a indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract offers four additional one-year option periods. In total, the potential five-year contract could be worth up to $1 billion for the team. Under the contract the company said that it will provide contingency construction worldwide to support relief and rebuilding efforts in the wake of natural disasters, humanitarian efforts and other emergencies. In addition to construction services, the contract also includes some base operations support services.

Dick Corporation contractor on award winning FT. Myers airport

The new Midfield Terminal Complex at Southwest Florida International Airport in Ft. Myers, Florida, was recently awarded the Airport Project of the Year from the Florida Department of Transportation. Dick Corporation served as the general contractor for the construction of the new 762,000 square foot complex along with a remote chiller plant. The terminal complex contains 28 aircraft gates along three concourses.

The award is presented annually to the project that demonstrates exceptional professional skills and represents a significant contribution to airport development, sustainability, efficiency, capacity and/or safety. Factors taken into consideration include:
• Contribution to the mobility of people and goods;
• Contribution to the well-being of people and communities;
• Challenges presented by the project;
• Demonstration resourcefulness in planning;
• Demonstration pioneering use of materials, equipment, and methods;
• Benefits to the physical environment and aesthetic values;
• Cost-effectiveness.

The award was presented at the Florida Airport Council banquet in the early part of August.

Dick Corp. Adds Environmental Capabilities

Dick Corporation has purchased select assets of the J.A. Jones Environmental Services Division, formerly a subsidiary of Charlotte, N.C.-based J.A. Jones, Inc.

“This acquisition gives Dick Corporation the capabilities and experience necessary to perform turnkey environmental projects and immediately provides the company with a national presence in the environmental services marketplace,” according to Kevin Gierc, Dick Corporation spokesman for the acquisition team.

The purchase, which includes staff, equipment, and contracts with federal, state, and local governmental agencies, allows Dick Corporation to expand its current service offerings to include a full spectrum of environmental capabilities. Among these areas are Indoor Air Quality (mold remediation), Hazardous Waste Remediation, and comprehensive environmental and risk assessments.

Dick Environmental Services, LLC , based in Jacksonville, FL, currently has a professional and operations staff of approximately 30 people. The operation includes project offices in South Carolina and Oklahoma. Franklin (Trip) Snelson, CHMM, who joined Dick Corporation in December 2003, will serve as director of the Dick Environmental Services division. Previously, he served as director of operations for the Environmental Group at J.A. Jones, and he has 16 years of progressive management experience in the environmental industry.

Among the assets acquired from J.A. Jones are prime contracts with the U.S. Air Force for work at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma and Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah. Contracts with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control were also included in the purchase.

Bridge Project First of Its Kind in U.S.

Dick Corporation is playing a significant role in a unique bridge replacement project in downtown Columbus, Ohio. The 692-foot-long, three-span Main Street Bridge will carry the roadway over the Scioto River.

When completed in 2006, the bridge will become only the fifth structure in the world to utilize an inclined arch superstructure - and the first in North America. In addition, it will be the only one of the five to incorporate post-tensioning into the design.

An inclined arch superstructure will support the bridge’s approx. 500-foot center span. Structural steel “L” brackets and cables will hang from the arch, supporting the cantilevered post-tensioned concrete deck for vehicular traffic on one side of the arch. A cantilevered deck on the opposite side of the arch will serve pedestrian traffic.

The existing, and quickly deteriorating concrete-arch structure will be demolished as part of the project.

Through a contract with the Ohio Department of Transportation, Dick will provide construction management services for the $30 million project. Columbus, Ohio-based DLZ is serving as the lead designer while HNTB’s Columbus office is performing the structural design for the project.
