Building
The Building Division is active in a variety of markets serving a diverse blend of public and private clients. Working directly from our strategically based regional offices, we are able to quickly respond to the needs of each client and project anywhere in the U.S. We are also able to meet specific requirements through a number of contract formats due to our considerable design-build and construction management experience.
The company has a wealth of experience in the construction and renovation of nearly any commercial building project, from education and health care complexes and correctional facilities to corporate office structures and government/military buildings. The company has worked in the hospitality, gaming, retail, and entertainment markets, and our work in the transportation marketplace includes airport construction and renovation projects as well as light rail and mass transit maintenance facilities.
Among the many landmark facilities that the company has built and/or renovated over the years are PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Union Station in Washington, DC, the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, and the new main terminal at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

Heavy/Industrial
The Heavy/Industrial Division is active in non-commercial building markets around the United States, serving both public and private clients. The division’s primary focus is twofold – Heavy work, which includes bridges and highways, and Industrial work, including work in the power, industrial, metals, and water/wastewater markets. We have the ability to self-perform a significant portion of any project we undertake, whether serving as general contractor or under more inclusive contract formats, such as an Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) agreement.
The company has a wealth of experience in construction and rehabilitation of highways and bridges. This includes work on some of the busiest stretches of highway in the country, such as the I-695 Baltimore Beltway and the Whitehurst Freeway in Washington, DC.
The company has been active in the construction of power and power-related facilities for nearly 30 years and had a presence in Pittsburgh’s once-thriving steel industry that carried to the completion of several new mini-mill facilities in recent years. The company has also built a number of water and wastewater treatment plants and manufacturing facilities through the efforts of the Heavy/Industrial Division.

Construction Management
The Construction Management Division provides construction management for fee services to a variety of public and private clients. Among these services are the review of project design, preparation of estimates and schedules, and performing value engineering during the pre-construction phase. During construction we have on-site staff to provide project management, document control, scheduling, cost control, inspection, and materials testing as needed depending on the size and scope of the project.
We have provided construction management services to clients for numerous bridge/highway projects, in the industrial and manufacturing sectors, and on building projects ranging from correctional facilities and education complexes to airports.
Among the notable construction management projects the company has had responsibility for include a 160-mile widening of the Ohio Turnpike, construction of the new Allegheny County Jail in Pittsburgh, and developing a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for Heinz.
